THE REFUGE
Student Ministry wants to support you, the parent, as you navigate the waters of adolescence with your student. We believe God’s plan for every generation is that they are to be led to Christ through the family, and not just the church. This is a great responsibility but also an exciting opportunity and we eagerly look to the future of partnering with you as we figure out how to make this dream a reality.

Deuteronomy 6:4-9 is a great place to start: “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”

A Permission Form from the parents and a Covenant of Conduct from the student are required for all retreats and mission experiences. The forms are applicable for each school year, August through the following July.  Click here to download the forms.

It is not enough to come to church, to excel at Bible study, or even to just experience God. We must be changed by Him and moved to action. Our goal is to humbly walk together with our God and trust Him to lead us to succeed in the endeavor of passing on faith to the next generation. We have the directions from Him here in Deuteronomy. Will you join us?

We have listed some helpful key terms for you as you read about the ministries and activities of THE REFUGE Student Ministry:

SNL - “Sunday Night Live” is a great first step to have your students get connected.  From 5-7 on Sunday nights we will play, worship, serve and do just about everything else.  Send $1 for snack!!!

Small Groups - The next step into deeper relationships and faith happen in our small groups.  They meet on Sunday night as a part of SNL and are broken down by gender and grade.  Some also meet during the week in homes of the small group leaders, at the church, or at local coffee houses or restaurants.
Winter Retreat - This is one of our more spectacular moments of the school year.  MLK weekend in January each year we head to camp to be challenged spiritually by a wonderful speaker, lead in worship by awesome music, and guided relationally by gracious small group leaders.
YOUTH Sunday School - Our Sunday school program is from 9:15-10:15 in the in the Refuge. We have doughnuts and then split into middle school and high school groups.  The lessons are led by adults.
Mission Trip - Mission trips are actually the staff's favorite offering out of the whole year. It is the week that makes the most difference in students' lives by far. Retreats are helpful and can be powerful if we do the work of making them impactful beyond coming home. Mission trips are work and service, usually in the heat, with a small dedicated team of friends. Students are challenged and always come back changed.
THE REFUGE Parent Facebook Group - not all parents are on Facebook, but if you are, be sure to join The Refuge Parent Ministries of Dauphin Way UMC
