Dauphin Way UMC

The leadership of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church exists to prayerfully guide, support, and strengthen the life and ministry of our congregation. Through collaboration, discernment, and faithful service, our leaders help ensure that our mission of “Making Disciples Who Make a Difference” is carried out with care, integrity, and purpose.

Church leadership includes clergy and lay members who serve on various committees, each with a distinct role in the life of the church—from overseeing ministry direction and stewardship of resources, to supporting staff, nurturing congregational leadership, and caring for the practical needs of our community. While some leadership work involves sensitive matters, much of it is open and accessible, and members of the congregation are welcome to attend many meetings and learn more about how decisions are made.

Together, these leaders seek God’s guidance as they make thoughtful decisions, encourage participation, and help Dauphin Way remain a welcoming, faithful, and responsive church—rooted in worship, committed to service, and attentive to the needs of both our congregation and the Mobile community. Church Council

The Church Council meets on the 4th Tuesday every other month and anyone may attend a meeting. The voting members include the Pastors, Committee Chairpersons, Lay Leaders for Annual Conference and Church Council at-large members.

Staff-Parish Relations Committee

The SPRC meets on the 1st Tuesday of each month. Because the Committee deals with sensitive, employment-related matters, these meetings are usually open only to committee members. However, the SPRC Chair may invite non-members to attend a particular meeting.

Board of Trustees

The Trustees meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, and it is the only committee that elects its own Chair. Anyone may attend a Trustees’ meeting.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Voting members include Finance Chair, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Lay Leader, SPRC Chair, and Trustees Chair. Anyone may attend a Finance Committee meeting.

Nominations Committee

The Nominations Committee meets in August and September to prayerfully consider who to nominate as officers and committee members for Dauphin Way’s leadership. The committee seeks input from all volunteer teams and considers which members have been actively living out their commitments to prayer, presence, gifts, service, and witness. Because these meetings deal with individual members of the congregation, they are strictly confidential.
