Welcome to Dauphin Way United Methodist Church

Greetings and welcome from the people of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church! Our church campus is located in the Historic Old Dauphin Way area in midtown Mobile, Alabama. If you need directions, please find us at the Welcome Desk in McGowin Hall (entrance located on Catherine Street) and we will be glad to help you find what you are looking for!

We are a diverse congregation with a shared mission of “Making Disciples Who Make a Difference.” We strive to live by that mission statement everyday by offering the Mobile community a connection with God through worship, fellowship, discipleship, and service. Whether it is by raising children who know and love God, participating in community events, or by serving as the hands and feet of Jesus both locally and globally, Dauphin Way UMC members and visitors alike are truly the embodiment of our mission.

We do not know how you managed to stumble upon this website, or what initially drew your interest in our church, but we are so glad you are here! We hope that this site allows you to discover new things about our church by providing a glimpse into our discipleship, ministries and service opportunities. But more than that, we would love for you to visit us so that we might greet you in the name of Christ and tell you more about our church!

ABOUT OUR SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICES

Worship at Dauphin Way UMC is central to who we are as a church, and we believe it should be a meaningful and engaging experience for all. We encourage you to join us during one of our three distinct Sunday services:

Traditional Service in Adkins Chapel – Sunday Mornings at 8:20 AM
Our 8:20 AM Chapel Service is a smaller traditional service with weekly Communion.

Contemporary Service in Moore Hall – Sunday Mornings at 9:30 AM
Our Contemporary Worship Service meets at 9:30 AM in Moore Hall. In this service, our worship band leads energetic modern music in a more casual and media-rich environment.

Traditional Service in the Sanctuary – Sunday Mornings at 11:00 AM
Dauphin Way’s 11:00 AM Traditional Worship service takes place in our Sanctuary and features a choir, organ, and congregational hymns. Our choir delights us with an array of inspiring choral music, and we join together in creeds, litanies, and prayers.

You are invited to experience life-changing, Christ-centered worship through any or all of our worship experiences. Each service has childcare available for 4 and under in the nursery, which is located in the Education Building. We also offer Children’s Church during our 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM worship services. Before the sermon begins, children in grades Kindergarten through 3rd Grade are invited to participate in an enriching, age-appropriate program led by our Director of Children’s Ministry, Heather White.

As a United Methodist faith community, we welcome all who seek to follow and serve Jesus Christ. We believe that our relationship with God is centered solely on God’s love and grace. This grace is available to all and is at the center of our theology and our faith community. Here you will find opportunities to worship and praise God, serve your neighbors, explore the Christian faith, grow spiritually, fellowship with fellow believers, and meet new friends.

There is truly something for everyone here at Dauphin Way UMC and we hope to meet you soon!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

At Dauphin Way UMC, it depends on the service! In contemporary worship, members tend to dress more comfortably, such as jeans, though there are some that do dress up, whether that’s a suit or a dress! In our traditional worship services, members lean more toward the dressy side. Regardless of the service, you are welcome in anything presentable.

Children are always welcome in any of our services! If you need childcare, our nursery is available to children ages 4 and under in the Treehouse in our Education Building. Before the sermon during our 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM services, children ages K5-3rd Grade are invited to Children’s Church led by our Director of Children’s Ministry and held in our Education Building. They will return as a group to the worship space at the end of the service. Families may also view the services from the comfort of one of our family rooms, available in both Moore Hall and the Sanctuary. One of our ushers will be happy to assist you with this.

We have three parking lots to choose from! We are located on Dauphin St., between Catherine St. and Lee St., and when you put in maps on your phone, it will likely direct you to the parking lot located at the rear of the church, off of Catherine St., however that lot also fills up the fastest. In that event, there are two other parking lots to utilize. One is located on Lee St., right next to the church, and the other is what is known to most as the “Pumpkin Patch,” located diagonally across Dauphin St. and Catherine St. from the church. Please be sure to lock your vehicles to keep any belongings safe.

Just about anyone! All of our members are warm, welcoming and always happy to see new faces. If you need more information, please come to our Welcome Desk in McGowin Hall, and a greeter will be happy to guide you and answer any questions you might have. And while you’re there, help yourself to a coffee and a donut!

Community starts with connection and connection starts with a name. To deepen our connection at Dauphin Way UMC, we host Nametag Sunday on the first Sunday of every month. On these Sundays, we all wear name tags to help us get more acquainted with each other!
