The Chancel Choir is made up of adults ages 18 and above who witness their faith by singing, experience God through their music and find a fellowship of believers who seek to serve. The choir serves as the principal choir for the 10:30 a.m. worship service. This choir rehearses each Wednesday from 7:00—9:00 p.m. in the music suite found in the basement below the sanctuary. Sunday rehearsals are thirty minutes prior to the service. No audition is necessary. Persons who want to share their faith by singing and who will commit to regular attendance to Wednesday rehearsal and Sunday worship are always welcome. Child care is always provided with reservations.
In addition to weekly worship, the choir has made a recording of favorite anthems, regularly performs large works with orchestra and has sung for special events including the ordination service of the Alabama/ West Florida Annual Conference. One annual highlight is the choir’s participation in the Annual White Christmas Service which features all the choirs and orchestra in a service of Lesson and Carols.
Children and Youth Choirs
The Cherub Choir is our youngest choir, made up of children 4 and 5 years old (by September 1). This choir meets at 5:00 pm on Sunday afternoons from September through April. The choir experience offers the children an opportunity to share their Christian joy through music in addition to building a musical foundation that includes: an introduction to musical symbols, singing, rhythms, and movement. The Cherubs sing regularly at the 10:30 a.m. worship service and participate in our annual White Christmas Service.
The Wesley Singers is our elementary age choir at Dauphin Way. From September through April on Sunday evenings at 5:45 pm our children 1st – 5th grades gather in our music suite. Rehearsal time is spent learning music to sing in our church services, exploring some of the great hymnody of the church, and developing skills in musicianship. In addition, choristers participate in special worship services throughout the year, such as our annual White Christmas Service, Christmas musicals, Palm Sunday and a spring musical.
The Chancel Ringers are made up of adults who enjoy sharing their musical talents through handbell ringing; the choir requires music proficiency and some ringing experience. The choir offers their music regularly in Sunday worship services, participates in specials services and presents concerts at the church as well as in the community. The choir rehearses Tuesday evenings from 5:30 until 6:45 from September until June. Membership is limited.
Our Noon Day Ringers are a beginning handbell ensemble for those who would like to learn the art handbells and share their faith through this ministry. The choir plays regularly for worship. Some musical background is needed. The ensemble rehearses Wednesdays from 12:15 until 1:00. Membership is limited.
