Dauphin Way United Methodist Church is honored to welcome back our friend Frye Gaillard—acclaimed journalist, author, and longtime church member—for a special presentation of his newest book, Heroes and Other Mortals: Stories of Our Better Angels.
Recently inducted into the Alabama Writers Hall of Fame, Frye brings decades of thoughtful storytelling and a deep moral compass to his work. Heroes and Other Mortals is a moving collection of essays about those who have inspired us by standing up for justice and who have explored the pain and ambiguity of our human condition—among them Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Jane Goodall, Mikhail Gorbachev, Rabbi Abraham Heschel, Regina Benjamin, and Sidney Poitier.
Frye has previously brought to Dauphin Way his reflections on powerful works like Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents, A Hard Rain: America in the 1960s, The Last Slave Ship, and His Truth Is Marching On: John Lewis and the Power of Hope. His return promises more of the same—honest, thoughtful, and deeply human storytelling. Join us on Sunday, May 18 at 4:00 PM in Adkins Chapel for what is sure to be a meaningful and inspiring conversation.
